Catholic Medical Quarterly Volume 62 (1) February 2012, p4
In this issue
We are pleased to have had such a positive feedback of the CMQ website
especially from medical students. In this issue we examine why direct abortion
is intrinsically evil even under difficult circumstances. The nature of
intention is central to our ethical reflection and we are grateful to Dr Joseph
Shaw who provides us with a philosophical article on the subject. Dr Dermot
Kearney informs us of the clinical aspects in a section of his article
Dr Anne-Marie Williams and colleagues have written an article on practical
medical ethics which will be especially useful to junior doctors. The care of
the elderly is sadly in the news again and the article by Dr John Berry is
timely.
Spiritual topics include a life of the great Catholic physician Saint Joseph
Moscati and a homily by Sri Lankan Cardinal Malcom Ranjith.
Finally the Church is full of young talent. Special thanks to George
Tully, who has enriched this journal with his line
drawings.
