"Then you will be blessed and happy and your happiness will influence others,"…. They will wonder what the secret of your life is and they, too, will discover Christ, your friend, brother and Lord, the Son of God incarnate, who gives meaning to all the universe."

Congratulations to the several young members of the CMA who were in Madrid for World Youth Day this August (at least one is pictured here).

Participants at World Youth DayPope Benedict urged the young people to be "prudent and wise, build your lives upon the firm foundation which is Christ" so that "nothing will make you fear and peace will reign in your hearts...Then you will be blessed and happy and your happiness will influence others," he said. "They will wonder what the secret of your life is" and they, too, will discover Christ, "your friend, brother and Lord, the Son of God incarnate, who gives meaning to all the universe."

At the final Mass closing World Youth Day Aug. 21 in Madrid, the Holy Father challenged the Catholic pilgrims to take that faith, make it grow and share it with the world. In his homily, he said, the vision of that sea of happy souls "fills my heart with joy...I think of the special love with which Jesus is looking upon you. Yes, the Lord loves you and calls you his friends."

In his homily at the Mass, Pope Benedict said faith is not about understanding just facts, "it is an ability to grasp the mystery of Christ's person in all its depth." Faith entails "a personal relationship with Christ, a surrender of our whole person, with all our understanding, will and feelings," he said. He then said that a personal relationship with Jesus always must be transformed into action, service and love for others. In addition, it must be lived within the church, the community of believers to whom Jesus entrusted his message and his mission of salvation.

“Christ asks each person: ‘Who do you say that I am?’" the Holy Father said. "Respond to Him with generosity and courage, as befits young hearts like your own...Make Christ, the Son of God, the centre of your life."

God bless all our young members and supporters
