Conscience

Dr James Flood

Sir,

James FllodI read with interest the Article on ‘What is Conscience’, November CMQ

The Author states that there cannot be a conflict between God’s Law and the Teachings of the Church. That of course presumes that the Church is infallible and that the Teachings once understood cannot change.

Sadly we are all fallible (including the Church - Pope, Cardinals, Bishops etc) and may not have fully understood God’s Law. After all each generation can offer new insights into age old understandings.

Therefore conscience ultimately remains the personal responsibility of the individual even if that person disagrees with the Church.

I shall be interested into what your readers think on this subject!
